Martha Bowlby codicil of 1759

Whereas I Martha Bowlby of Mansfield Woodhouse in the County of Nottingham Widow have made my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date fifth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty five and have thereby made and appointed Christopher Cotton of Mansfield in the County of Nottingham Grocer and Tallow Chandlar and John Norborn of Barlborough in the County of Derby Gentleman Executor Now I do by this my writing (which I declare to be a codicil to my said Will and direct to be taken as part thereof) will and direct that the said Christopher Cotton shall not be an Executor of my said Will and do hereby revoke my appointment of him as such but that in his place and stead I
appoint John Cotton of Mansfield Woodhouse aforesaid Gentleman shall be one of the Executors of my said Will jointly and together with the said John Norborn and I do hereby accordingly make and ordain constitute and appoint them the said John Norborn and John Cotton joint and sole Executors of my said Will as fully to all intents and purposes in all respects as if they only and no other person or persons had been by me originally named in and by my said Will appointed Executors thereof Item Whereas I heretofore was seized and invested in a certain Real Estate lying and being in West New Jersey America whereof I had my appointment or Disposing power notwithstanding my then conditions and being the wife of my late husband Thomas Bowlby of West New Jersey aforesaid Gentleman deceased and whereas by said deed or instrument in writing I have made my appointment and declared the powers thereof by the said Deed I do hereby (as much as in me lies) ratify and confirm the named in every respect.In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Twenty fifth day of November In the Year of our Lord 1759.

to her Last Will and Testament in the presences of us who have subscribed
our hands in the presence of the said Martha Bowlby and each other.
