481. Robert Lanning BOWLBY ⁽²⁹⁰⁶⁾⁽⁵⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 20 May 1795 in Sussex County, New Jersey.⁽²⁹⁰⁷⁾ He died on 1 Aug 1868 in Monongalia County, Virginia.⁽²⁹⁰⁸⁾⁽²⁹⁰⁹⁾
His will appears to have been filed in Greene County, PA. In the Will Index, shared with us by Claude Swain as he received from Lloyd Wilson, it is registered in Volume 4, Page 247 with the probate year of 1868.

So, in fact, he likely died in Greene County, PA. He was a farmer in Cass District of Mongalia County, Maidsville.⁽²⁹¹⁰⁾ His family appears in the 1850 and 1860 census. In his father's will
of 1842, he was to receive the nominal sum of ten dollars, indicating
that he had received his inheritance previously.

He was married to Margaret SMITH.⁽²⁹¹¹⁾⁽²⁹¹²⁾⁽²⁹¹³⁾ Margaret SMITH⁽⁵⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 20 Apr 1798.⁽²⁹¹⁴⁾ She died on 14 Sep 1878.⁽²⁹¹⁵⁾ She was buried in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. She was also known as Mary, Polly, Dolly.⁽²⁹¹⁶⁾⁽²⁹¹⁷⁾ She was also known as "Smyth".⁽²⁹¹⁸⁾ Robert Lanning BOWLBY and Margaret SMITH had the following children:
